OUR 2012 DREAM CHILD – EVA
To learn more you can also visit Eva’s website
Community Hospice’s pediatric program, Community PedsCare, has chosen Eva as our dream child for the 10th Annual Fishing for Dreams tournament. The most inspiring person we’ve ever met is our daughter Eva-Simone Brooks. She is only 3 years old and has managed to teach our family the meaning of living life to the fullest. Eva was born with Patau syndrome (also known as Trisomy 13), a genetic condition that statistics say is incompatible with life. Trisomy 13 is a condition in which there are three chromosomes on the 13th chromosome instead of two. Eva has Full-Trisomy 13, which means that every cell in her body has an extra chromosome on the 13th strand. Her symptoms include deaf-blindness, low muscle tone and cleft palate. Eva isn’t able to speak because that portion of her brain did not develop. Eva struggles to do things we take for granted such as breathing, moving independently and eating, however she is the happiest baby we’ve ever met. Eva’s smile just melts our hearts every time. Eva is the youngest of four children. Dayzha, our oldest, loves to spend time cuddling with her. Savon, the only boy, loves to read to Eva. Alani, our seven year old, enjoys playing with her. Eva’s happiest moments revolve around her brother and sisters. She also loves walks on the beach, lights and chocolate ice cream! Our hopes for Eva’s future are that she enjoy as many blissful moments as possible. We want others to learn from her life that Trisomy 13 is not incompatible with life, but compatible with love, joy and happiness. Her life is a miracle, she is a blessing and we are proud to be able to be a part of her world. Our wish Fishing for Dreams is granting is to repair our minivan. We make many trips to Nemours and Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville to keep up with Eva’s doctor appointments and general health. Having our van be reliable, safe and comfortable for our children is very important. We are very appreciative to all of the volunteers at Fishing for Dreams to be able to help our family.Daisy and Sean Brooks |
